The skills they learned in math from the previous year, are expounded upon throughout their fourth grade year. By the end of this year, students are able to solve fractions and decimal problems using the four operations, understand when it’s appropriate to round, use measurement, measure angles using tools, further develop their geometric and data collection skills. Students will continue to use and practice math skills they have learned in previous years in order to ensure mastery.

Religion:

In the We Believe Religion series, this year fourth graders will grow in self-esteem, social interaction, and interest in the wider world.  As "joiners" in games and groups, they bring a realistic perspective to the human need to rules and standards.  Fourth graders are now ready to appreciate the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, and the teachings of Jesus.  This year we will continue our Journey to Discipleship in order to be better disciples of Jesus.  Fourth graders are ready to reach out to others in responsibility and appreciation participating in community service projects.

Science:

Fourth graders use scientific tools and technology in order to gather data to gain empirical evidence.  Scientific inquiry is utilized to conduct experiments and investigations.  Students are able to communicate their findings through the development of charts, graphs, and models.  Students are active learners who engage in hands-on , inquiry based lessons in the areas of Earth and Space Science, Physical Science, and Life Science.  Students are encouraged to take their scientific knowledge and apply it to real-life situations.

Social Studies:

4th grade students work to further develop their map skills, explore events that led to westward expansion, explain the functions of our government, the economy, and contributions of various cultures in America through the 1800’s. As they continue to demonstrate their map skills, they learn how to locate places using latitude and longitude. The students create a classroom timeline of events that are discussed in class, so that they can see it unfold before their eyes. They also create a book of historical figures and their contributions to American Society, which will be linked with the classroom timeline. By the end of fourth grade, students know their rights under our Constitution and how to abide by our laws in a peaceful manner.
